Hip-hop dancer, vlogger and entrepreneur Shubhanker Gawade aka Hectik is a man of many talents. When we asked him about what drives him, his simple answer was- his survival instinct. "I know if I don't hustle everyday, all my previous hard work will amount to nothing. I want to make it big - I have come so far and there is no turning back".
While being able to pursue one's passion as a profession is not something everyone can do, it is not always easy and he admits that on some days the anxiety of it all can get too intense. He has also had to tackle various social and financial obstacles to get to where he is.
Ever since his childhood he's had a passion for dancing. During college is when he started training professionally and he has won several battles since to become one of the most well-known faces in the Indian hip-hop scene. His breakthrough came with the India vs. Russia World Dance Battle in 2018. In 2020, he also started his own apparel line, New Hash along with his girlfriend and business partner Ria Swamy .
One of the oldest and most loyal members of the Supervek Fam, he believes that that streetwear brands can go a long way to fuel the underground scene in India. "Street is not just an aesthetic, it is a lifestyle. For me, Street = Supervek", he says.
